The GMC dive site is a man-made reef created in 2018 sponsored by GMC Qatar, hence the name. It is located about 57km from Doha and can be accessed with a 4x4 car. The site features a few sunken vehicles that have quickly been reclaimed by sea creatures.
You can see the typical Red Sea fish like the Arabian blue angelfish, groupers, barracudas, snappers, sergeant majors, batfish, spangled emperors, small rays, cuttlefish, crab, and nudibranchs. If you’re lucky, you may also spot some dolphins, sea turtles, and nurse sharks.
The GMC reef is suitable for all divers, with a maximum depth of only 16 meters/52 feet, medium visibility (about 10 meters/30 feet), and low current. Enter from the shore.
