La Cova de la Sal is a dive site located off L'Escala, in the Province of Girona. This is a shallow dive, just 4 to 22 meters (13-72 feet) deep, suitable for divers of all levels. Also used for Discover Scuba courses.
Some of the highlights of diving at Cova de la Sal include the seagrass meadow towards Montgo beach and a wall rich in benthic fauna. There’s also a platform where larger species of fish can be seen.
Visibility is not the greatest – just a medium 5 to 10 meters (16-33 feet). No currents to worry about. Diving in the Catalonia region is possible throughout the year, with water temperatures averaging from 16 to 24° C (60-75° F).
