The Blue Hole in Dahab, Sinai, is one of the most spectacular dive sites in Egypt. Recommended for advanced divers, this sinkhole is about 130 meters (426 feet) deep.
At about 6 meters (19 feet) down there's a shallow opening known as "the saddle" that leads to the sea. At 26 meters (85 feet), divers get to a long tunnel known as "the arch" that goes down to 25 meters (170 feet).
The main highlights of the Blue Hole dive site are the reef, reef wall, corals, and marine life that comprises trevallies, barracudas, jacks, and sometimes a stray white-tip or gray shark.
The visibility is outstanding: 30 to 40 meters (100 to 130 feet).
To dive the deeper sections of the Blue Hole, divers must hold a technical diving certification. There are several dive operators in the area that offer technical diving courses.
