The yellowmouth grouper is a species of grouper found in the Caribbean and in the tropical waters of the Atlantic Ocean. It has an elongate, robust and compressed body, and measures around 40 centimeters (16 in), although it can grow to a maximum size of 84 centimeters (33 in).
