This fish is is the largest eastern Atlantic scorpion fish, with an average length of 30 centimeters and weighing up to 3 kilograms. It lives in marine, and brackish environments with rocky, sandy or muddy bottoms at depths of ranging from 20 to 500 meters.
During the day it dwells in boroughs and caves and comes out at night to hunt.
The colour of its body ranges from brick red to light pink and it also has dark coloured blotches.
This predatory fish has venomous spines.
