The pumpkinseed is a freshwater fish in the sunfish family, primarily found in the northeastern United States. They grow to a length of about 10 cm (4 in) in length and have a small body that resembles the shape of a pumpkin seed. The fish are yellow, orange, or blue and their coloration is one of the most vibrant of any freshwater fish.
