Jacks are species of fish belonging to the family Carangidae. They are fond in temperate and tropical waters of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. Some can live in fresh or brackish water.

The fish' body size and shape varies among species, but many of them are characterized by laterally compressed bodies and a deeply forked tail. Many have a silvery, bluish green, or yellowish sheen.
