Cornetfish are part of the Fistulariidae family in the order Syngnathiformes, consisting in one genus with four species which can be found in tropical and subtropical marine regions.
The animals are thin and elongated and can reach a length of up to 200 cm (6.6 feet). They have long snouts, forked caudal fins, and dorsal and anal fins.
Cornetfish feed on small fish, invertebrates, and crustaceans.
