Jake Seaplane is a wreck dive site on the northern tip of Arakabesan Island, Palau. The 97-meter/320-foot long plane, once used by the Japanese Armed Forces during WWII, is now sitting on the ocean floor at about 12 meters/40 feet. No one knows exactly what caused it to sink, but one thing is certain: it was not attacked or fired.
The wreck is located on a coral reef and is surrounded by numerous species of coral (staghorn, lettuce, table, and brain corals) and sea sponges. It is also home to several marine animals such as octopuses, clownfish, pufferfish, triggerfish, trevallies, and glassfish.
This is a great dive site for underwater photographers, so don’t miss it!
Diving conditions are best from November to May. The average water temperature is 27° C/80° F throughout the year.
