Ernie’s Point, or Ernie’s Cave, is a biodiverse dive site that got its name from the small cave where Ernie the grouper used to live. Although Ernie no longer lives here, his legacy lives on.
The cave is found at a depth of 21 meters (69 feet), at the bottom of a large rocky outcrop. At 27 meters (86 feet) deep lies another small cave. Although none of the caves are penetrable, they are teeming with life and adorned with sea fans and marine flora.
The area is still frequently visited by small groupers. Other marine creatures that you can spot here include Hawksbill turtles, mantis shrimps, Christmas tree worms, and spectacular schools of trevallies and mackerels.
Ernie’s Point is recommended for advanced divers. Beware of the strong currents that often occur here. If you get to dive here, you’ll find excellent visibility of about 25 meters (82 feet).
