Batu Jahat is a dive site located in the far south of the island of Tioman, Malaysia. It consists of a small rock (batu means rock) that’s home to healthy coral and a myriad of critters and pelagic species. This rocky islet is surrounded by large boulders that formed tunnels, swim through, corridors, and caves. A torch is necessary to explore the inside of the caves.
Marine life includes black tip sharks, jacks, barracudas, stone fish, common tropical reef fishes, hard corals, soft corals, and sea fans.
The depth at Batu Jahat ranges from 5 to 24 meters (16-79 feet). At times, the spot can be challenging to dive because of the strong currents. Visibility is good, ranging from 10 to 30 meters (33-100 feet). The best time to dive here is March through June, but diving conditions are typically good year-round.
