The Abu Hashish dive site in Hurghada is a sloping wall with a sandy plateau between 10 and 20 meters (33-66 feet), and you can also find a coral ridge on the plateau and an area of sea grass. That area of sea grass earned the dive site its name, as Abu Hashish means Father of Grass.
Abu Hashish is a protected area, ideal for novices. Divers can do this dive as a drift or from the mooring and back.
The sandy areas are found at a depth of about 15 meters (49 feet) while the wall drops to about 50 meters (165 feet). Visibility is not the greatest, averaging around 10 meters (30 feet).
The marine life at Abu Hashish includes yellow-mouth moray eels, octopuses, stonefish, scorpionfish, barracudas, batfish, and other species of fish.
