The stripey is a species of ray-finned fish that’s native to the Pacific Ocean. It has a deep, compressed body and a distinctive pattern of oblique black and yellow (sometimes white) stripes. The fish measures a maximum of 16 centimeters (6.3 inches) in length. It feeds on small crustaceans and algae. You can spot it in coastal and lagoon reefs, tidal pools, and may enter brackish water.
