Smooth Ray

The smooth stingray is a common species of stingray in the family Dasyatidae. It’s found off the costs of southern Africa, southern Australia, and New Zealand. The animal is mainly bottom-dwelling in nature, inhabiting brackish estuaries, sandy flats, sheltered bays and inlets, rocky reefs, and the outer continental shelf. This species is the largest stingray in the world and can grow upwards of 2.1 meters (6.9 feet) across and 350 kg (770 lb) in weight.
