Remoras are ray-finned fish that grow to a size of 30-110 cm (12-13 in). Their dorsal fin take the shape of a sucker-like organ with slat-like structures that open and close to create suction. Remoras spend their lives attached to a host animal such as a ray, shark, whale or turtle.
