The raccoon butterflyfish is a fish found in regions across the Indo-Pacific but also in Eastern Pacific regions. It is recognized by the black and white markings around its face that makes it resemble a raccoon.
This species lives in seaward reefs and shallow reef flats of lagoons, where it can be found at a depth of over 30 meters.
