The ornate wrasse is native to the rocky coasts of the eastern Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. You can recognize the females by the greenish-brown color with a dark bar on each scale and five blue vertical stripes. Male ornate wrasses have red heads with blue markings.
