Long Beaked Coralfish

The long beaked coral fish occurs from southern Japan and Taiwan throughout the Coral Triangle, northern Thailand and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to the Solomon Islands and the northern coast of Australia from the Gulf of Carpenteria to Sydney. It prefers shallow waters of maximum 25 meters, in coastal and inner reefs, often in turbid water.
This species of fish grows to a maximum length of 20 centimeters and is easily identifiable by its vertical yellow stripes on a white background and its long snout, as well as its compressed, deep-bodied form with a long dorsal and posterior fins. It also has a dark spot on its dorsal fin and a dark band at the base of its tail that runs perpendicular on it.
