Brain coral is a hard coral generally found in the shallow warm waters of all oceans worldwide.
Their name comes from their spheroid shape and grooved surface. Each head is formed by a colony of polyps. Colonies can grow as large as 1.8 meters/6 feet.
Brain corals can live to be 900 years old.
