Bamboo sharks live in the tropical western Pacific, at the bottom of continental waters. They are slender and rather small, reaching a maximum length of 120 centimeters. They have nasal grooves, short barbels and large spiracles below their eyes.
Their precaudal tail is longer than their head and body.
They spend most of their time dwelling on the bottom and are rather sluggish and harmless.
