Mary’s Place is one of the most spectacular dive sites in Roatan. The spot was named after a diver’s wife and was initially called “Mary’s Crack” because of the huge crack formed by volcanic activity. For obvious reasons, that name didn’t stick.
The crack leads to the outer wall adorned with coral and teeming with marine life. The exterior wall drops to 40 meters/130 feet. The site’s famous vertical crevices are found at 36 meters/120 feet. These deep and narrow crevices require top buoyancy control.
The rich coal, tube sponges, barrel sponges, sea anemones, and sea plumes are some of the highlights of the dive. Marine life is present everywhere you look. Sea turtles, stingrays, lobster, channel crabs, spotted drums, creole wrasses, and lots of other marine animals can be seen here.
