Horse Head dive site in Puerto Galera is a deep spot with an average depth of about 35 meters (115 feet). It features rock formations that resemble – as you may have guessed by now – a horse’s head.
Soft tree corals along with huge whip corals and large gorgonian sea fans dominate the substrate. At the end of the reef, there’s a deep wall down to 55 meters (180 feet) which is a favorite among technical divers.
Batfish, sweetlips, and jacks are common encounters at Horsehead reef, but one may also spot some big fish such as manta rays, barracudas, thresher sharks, and hammerheads.
Due to the depth of the site and the strong currents, Horse Head is recommended for advanced divers.
