Daedalus Reef is a 400-meter/1300-foot-long and 100-meter/320-foot-wide offshore coral formation located in a relatively remote area. Considered to be Egypt’s less-visited reef, this allowed it to thrive in absence of the negative effects of mass tourism. The recommended way to get here is via liveaboard from Marsa Alam.
The strong currents that the reef is exposed to have promoted the growth of hundreds of species of soft and hard coral, as well as pelagic species such as oceanic sharks (hammerheads, threshers, and whitetip), and tuna, mackerels. You can also see steep walls that drop to staggering depths.
Daedalus recommended for advanced divers who are experienced with currents and drift diving. The average depth of the dive is 25 meters/82 feet and visibility ranges from 10 to 30 meters/30-100 feet.
Diving is possible all year long. The water stays warm throughout the year and ranges from 26° to 30° C/78° to 86° F.
