Bari Reef is a nice house reef located off Sand Dollar Resort, near Kralendijk on Bonaire’s west coast. It is an easy shore dive with minimal current, boasting some of the most diverse reef ecosystems in the Caribbean. The reef is reported to host over 300 species of sea creatures.
The drop-off at Bari Reef begins at about 30 meters/100 feet, sloping gently to a depth of about 130 meters/420 feet. It provides many things worth exploring for advanced divers, but even beginners can enjoy the shallower depths.
This colorful dive site features huge rope sponges, elephant ear sponges, purple tube sponges, and branching coral in good shape. The coral spawn occurs in August when hundreds of polyps simultaneously release their eggs. It is truly an interesting phenomenon to observe.
Marine life at Bari Reef consists of species of animals such as manta rays, angelfish, lionfish, lizardfish, parrotfish, butterflyfish, jawfish, goatfish, crab, barracudas, tarpons, blennies, spiny lobster, grunts, octopus, mollusks, sea slugs, sea cucumbers, and many others.
