STRIJENHAM Nederland, Zeeland Challenging dive site Strijenham is a dive site full of flora and fauna. The site is home to cuttlefish, squid, flatfish and a huge variety of nudibranchs and green and brown weeds. The cuttlefish are mostly seen from April onwards. A striking feature of Strijenham is the overhanging ledge where you can spot numerous small marine life forms. Strijenham is one of the first dive sites in Zeeland where the rare wakama weed has been observed. The wakama weed, now more ore less common in Zeeland, is cultivated along the French coast. From there, it drifted towards Zeeland. Particulars Strijenham is entered via stairs at a bend in the dike. Now swim in southern direction to a depth of 15 to 20 meters, depending on the tide. Then follow the dike slope in easterly direction until you see a sand slope. These are the remains of an old dam. The slope ends in a peat wall with beautifully overgrown stone blocks next to it. Dive shallow along the dyke body on your way back or make a drift dive to dive site Strijenhaven. Warnings Don't dive at Strijenham in winds stronger than wind force 4. Entry point is slippery at low tide. Fairway close by. Don't make free ascents. Long walk to entry point.
