The dorado is a ray-finned fish found in tropical, subtropical, and temperature waters worldwide. It is common in the Gulf of Mexico, Hawaii, Costa Rica, and the Indian Ocean. The fish has a compressed body and a single long-based dorsal fin extending almost to the tail. They can weigh up to 3 kg (29 lb) and measure a meter in length.
