Banded sea snake

Nombres alternativos: banded sea krait, Laticauda colubrina

The banded sea krait is a sea snake that inhabits the eastern Indian and western Pacific oceans. The names comes from the vertical black bands that cover its otherwise white body.

They spend most of their time on land but can hold their breath underwater for extended periods of time. Their paddle-like tail helps with their swimming abilities.

Sea snakes are not considered a danger to humans and they don't seem interested in divers.
