The SS British Sergeant was a British tanker that sunk during WWII in April 1942 during the Indian Ocean raid. The wreck is located at a depth of 24 meters/80 feet off Batticaloa, Sri Lanka.
It lies split into two parts with large holes that house schools of fish. It is possible to swim through these caverns and exit on the other side. Wreck divers can penetrate the other side of the ship which is full of entry points.
*The identity of the wreck is uncertain. Some believe that the wreck is not the SS British Sergeant but the SS Norviken.
