Giftun Drift dive site is a great spot for technical diving, drift diving or boat diving. At a depth of 60 meters (12-25 meters for the plateau), a visibility of 10-40 meters, and unpredictable current, it's more suitable for advanced divers.
Divers drift along a gorgonian wall that leads to a sandy plateau with coral formations.
You can spot surgeonfish, eels, antler sponges, morays, turtles, and lionfish.
Small Giftun is a wall/drift dive located less than an hour away from Hurghada. The current carries divers along a wall “decorated” with coral and sponges. The wall drops to a depth of about 100 meters (328 feet), and it is worth diving down to about 30 meters (98 feet) to see some spectacular gorgonian corals. Between 15 and 20 meters (49-66 feet), the reef levels out to a sandy plateau with coral formations. There’s generally less current on the plateau than the wall.
The marine life includes animals like sea turtles, blue-spotted stingrays, moray eels, stonefish, scorpionfish, crocodilefish, nudibranchs, flatworms, and critters. It is also not uncommon to spot trevallies and tunas.
Small Giftun is suitable for divers of all levels of experience. The visibility is good, ranging from 20 to 30 meters (65 to 100 feet).
