Pengah Kecil is a small island within the Komodo National Park. The dive starts close to the island and features a varied topography that includes walls, a sloping reef, and a plateau. The rocky walls are filled with hard and soft corals and sea fans.
The spot is a habitat for diverse marine life that includes plenty of critters such as nudibranchs, shrimps, and frogfish, but you can also find larger animals such as jacks, bumphead parrotfish, mantas, mobulas, eagle rays, Hawksbill turtles, as well as some small white-tip reef sharks, bamboo sharks, and sea snakes above the shallow plateau.
The visibility at Pengah Kecil dive site is not the greatest, definitely poorer than on other dive spots in Komodo, but it can be more than decent at times. There can also be a strong rip current due to the tide splitting around the rock, but when the current is weaker, it is possible to drift around the island. Divers exploring the area should be experienced with diving in current because even with a weak current, some strong down currents can still form around the corners.
