Maracaibo is an impressive wall dive site situated close to the Punta Celerain Lighthouse, Cozumel. It’s the southernmost reef on the island and is exposed to large ocean swells. The spot is suitable for advanced divers only.
What makes Maracaibo so appealing are the large animals you can spot here. Blacktip reef sharks, nurse sharks, rats, large groupers, hawksbill sea turtles, and even schools of hammers can be seen here.
The wall part f the dive is filled with coral limestone structures, swim-throughs, caverns, and caves.
The maximum depth here is 43 meters/141 feet. Visibility averages 10 meters/33 feet but can reach up to 30 meters/100 feet.
