The Great Astrolabe Reef is one of the largest barrier reefs in the world and one of the wonders of Fiji.
Since The Great Astrolabe Reef is one of the largest barrier reefs in the world, you can find all types of dives: wall dives, swim-throughs, caverns, drift dives, submerged pinnacles, passageways, coral bommie’s, and are all close by.
The depth varies from shallow dives at the top of the reef (10-18 meters) to deep wall dives, (reaching 30 meters and even more).
Vast colorful coral gardens stretch for hundreds of miles along the Astrolabe reef. There are over three hundred different kinds of coral on the reef with many of them only found here. Hard corals come in all shapes and sizes, and the colorful and more fragile soft corals are particularly impressive.
Due to its remote location, the reef is in pristine condition with beautiful corals and amazing numbers of fish, reef sharks, turtles, manta rays, dolphins and even the occasional whale.
Experienced divers may face strong currents between passages, although normally there's just mild current along the reef.
