German Channel is an amazing dive thanks to the majestic manta rays that visit this channel regularly. The name of the site comes from its origin; the channel was blasted by the Germans so they can pass with their boats during their occupation of Palau.
The mouth of the German Channel has some small cleaning stations where mantas come to get cleaned by the wrasses. The shallow depth of only 20 meters/66 feet allows all divers to experience this amazing sight. However, the current can get strong.
Reef sharks and schooling jacks are commonly seen around here too. Other marine animals that inhabit the channel include barracudas, black snappers, trevallies, lionfish, leaf fish, triggerfish, among others.
You have higher chances of seeing more manta rays between December and March. The average water temperature stays around 27° C/82° F throughout the year.
