First Bay South is a beautiful dive site in Aqaba, Jordan. The spot is suitable for divers of all levels and what’s great about it is that the most stunning corals (and marine life) are found at depths of 12 to 18 meters (40-60 feet), which means beginners can enjoy some of the best things it has to offer. In fact, First Bay South is often used for diver training.
First Bay South is teeming with life. The site has superb soft and hard corals and impressive sponges. One of the best parts of the dive is the seamount covered in black corals and the cabbage coral garden. The schooling damselfish, butterflyfish, fusiliers, and parrotfish put on quite a show.
Technical divers can go below 40 meters (130 feet) for more spectacular coral growth. The deeper part is known as Death Valley because of the dangerous downcurrent.
Visibility is excellent at First Bay South - around 20 meters (66 feet). Diving is possible year-round and the water temperature ranges from 20° C/60° F during winter to 29° C/84° F during summer.
