Cousins Rock is one of the most popular islands in the Galapagos. It consists of a rock formation that peaks the surface of the water and on top of which lives wildlife like sea lions, penguins, and sea birds.
Underwater, the walls of the rock are home to an abundance of marine creatures such as rays, green sea turtles, nudibranchs, frogfish, and Galapagos seahorses. There’s also a chance you may spot hammerhead sharks and Galapagos sharks out in the blue. the wall is covered with black coral, hard coral, red sponges, and sea fans.
The diving season runs from December to April. With a maximum depth of 22 meters/72 feet, Cousins Rock is accessible to all divers. However, the currents can get strong.
