Casa Cenote

Casa Cenote, or Cenote Manatee, is an exciting dive near Tulum. This dive site got its name many years ago when it used to be visited by the manatees. Today, it is rare to spot one. Nonetheless, the cenote’s clear emerald waters are still a big draw to the area.

This narrow cenote is known for its hundreds of guppies, mollies, and platys, which swim between the mangrove roots and fronds. Casa Cenote gives divers the feeling of diving in an underwater jungle.

At various depths, divers can also experience a mixing zone of waters called a halocline. This is caused by the combination of saltwater and freshwater and has contributed to the wonderful diversity of marine life. Moray eels, barracudas, tarpon, snappers, blue crabs, shrimps, and many other species can be seen here.

Casa Cenote can be dived by both beginners and advanced divers. This is a year-round dive, with water temperatures ranging between 28° C/84° F during summer and 25° C/78° F during winter.

Don’t forget to bring your camera – this spot is great for underwater photography!
